HP Envy 13 Clamshell (2020)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I just bought a new HP Envy 13 (2020 release) clamshell (not x360, model 13-ba0045cl) and have been trying to use a pen as input.  (I've been trying with the MS Surface pen, which presumably works with the x360, but I don't know about the clamshell). Does Pen input work? I didn't need the tablet form factor, but I wanted to use pen input nonetheless.  Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

You can check the stylus compatibility through the virtual agent: Click here - the keyword is "stylus compatibility". And then follow the process.

If it does not mention anything about it, that may mean that the device only supports passive stylus and here's all you need to know about it:

  • A passive stylus (also known as capacitive stylus) functions the same as your finger on the screen.
  • Passive styluses do not require batteries, and they work on any touch screen device.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Accept as solution" button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Have a great day!
