A long while back I wrote about a problem displaying video over the USB C port. The specs for my laptop are STILL listed as supporting this. Does anyone know if this works and if so confirm which adapter should be used.

Its specs

         https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05806272

It has 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge) port. Yes you can connect it to an USB-C monitor or using USB-C to DP adapter.

Regards.

Hello,

Thank you so much for your reply. I tried a couple of different adapters and none of them worked. Eventually someone from HP contacted me via telephone and we got nowhere. The person I spoke with as well as a rep in these forums explained that it is not possible since it is not a Thunderbolt port. I pointed out the very spec you highlighted.

Some of this may be in my post history but I am afraid to look. This all took place back in 2018

Some of the adaptors I've tried included

AND

Do you know which adaptor works. I am looking to get 4k 60hz - supported by DP 1.2.

Also, something interesting I found in my older posts.

The specs on the website say it supports it

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05806272

However... This spec sheet says it doesn't

https://pcb.itcs.hp.com/dc/api/spec-sheet/us-en/18162285/pdf/2EW64UA.pdf

^^^ The above 2 links no longer work but they did at one time.

I remember there was a reason I was still confused to see this model listed as supporting DP Alt mode.

Do you know exactly which adapter works?
