Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Thank you in advance for your help.  I've got the above model laptop and need to connect it to an external monitor.  I've connected a HDMI cable from the monitor to the HDMI port on the laptop.  When this is plugged in the external monitor cannot be located.  I googled and think I need a second cable to attach the laptop to the Display Port on the monitor.  I ordered a Display Port cable and then realised I don't have a display port input on the laptop (oops).  What I do have is RJ-45 (network jack); HDMI port and 2 USB ports.  There is no definted external monitor port.

If anyone could tell me what cable or adaptor I need, I would be very grateful.   Thak you.

The specs of your machine is

              https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05306755

It has

1 HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo; 2 USB 2.0; 1 USB 3.0; 1 RJ-45

A direct HDMI - HDMI cable to monitor should work. What does the monitor say ? What is your monitor ?

Regards.

Thankyou @banhien for your reply.  I just tried using the HDMI to HDMI cable again and it worked.  Must have been me doing something wrong with the connections.
