I have a display issue on my 15" Pavilion laptop. I have a Dell external display connected via the HDMI Lt port. If I move the mouse on the LT screen, the screen goes dark. If I use the touch screen, the screen does not go dark. The external monitor works fine with the mouse. As soon as I mouse over the LT screen-it goes dark.
I've updated all the drivers but still have the issue. HP doesn't provide an update for Windows 11, just windows 10. Does that mean I should revert back to windows 10?
I did run the following command as administrator that seemed to work for a day: v10.0.26100.4061
SISM.exe /OnLine /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth It only loads 62.3%. I then rebooted.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Thank you

@MRK26, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Reinstall the Intel Graphics Driver
Even if it looks up to date, a clean install may help.
Go to Device Manager > Display adapters.
Uninstall Intel UHD Graphics, and check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
Reboot. Let Windows install a basic driver or manually download the latest Intel driver for your generation from:
Intel Drivers & Support Assistant
Disable Panel Self-Refresh
Right-click the desktop > Intel Graphics Command Center or Intel HD Graphics Control Panel.
Go to Power > On Battery and Plugged In sections.
Disable "Panel Self-Refresh".
Then reboot and test again.
Try Disabling Pointer Trails
Pointer visual effects can cause glitching on certain displays.
Go to Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer Options.
Uncheck "Display pointer trails", if enabled.
Also uncheck "Enhance pointer precision" temporarily.
Check Power & Sleep Settings
Your mouse input might be triggering some power-saving action.
Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Screen and Sleep.
Make sure "Turn off screen" and "Sleep" settings aren’t overly aggressive.
Also, go to:
Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices → Right-click → Properties > Power Management tab.
Uncheck “Allow this device to wake the computer” if it’s enabled.
Test Without External Monitor
Try booting up without the Dell HDMI monitor connected. Use the mouse on the internal screen and see if the issue persists.
If not, it may be a multi-display conflict, where Windows or the GPU is prioritizing the external screen and mishandling input zones.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
