HP Pavilion g6 - screen problem

HP Recommended
Pavilion g6
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

Hi, I was hoping to get some help.  The side of my laptop cracked open and now the screen is not working.  I've taken it in and they advised the VGA cable is damaged.  Does anyone know where I can get a cable and if I can fix it myself or do I need a new screen?  I have a HP Pavilion g6.

@GaryJamesDavis

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Pavillion G6 series laptop. I read that one of the sides of the laptop is cracked and because of the screen does not work. You have diagnosed and were informed that the VGA cable is damaged.

I strongly recommend you to contact our HP phone support to explore the hardware service options available for the laptop. Because in such cases that could be more than the VGA cable that needs attention. The part no. for HP Pavilion G6 LCD Screen Video Cable is 681808-001 (source: service manual - page# 67)

Meanwhile, if you plan to change the part on your own then this service manual (page# 67) might be useful to you.

Hope this information helps. Please keep me posted for any questions. Cheers! 🙂
