Hi @theabid,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Ensure Webcam is Enabled and Selected:
- Make sure that the webcam is turned on and selected as the active camera. Some HP notebooks come with a webcam privacy switch or shutter key. Ensure these are set to 'On.'
Update Webcam Drivers:
- Using HP Support Assistant:
- Open HP Support Assistant from your taskbar or search for it in the Start menu.
- Navigate to the 'Updates' section and check for any available updates for your webcam drivers.
- Visit HP's Support Site:
- Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads and enter your laptop model to find and download the latest drivers.
Adjust Camera App Permissions:
- For Windows 11, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
- Ensure the setting for 'Camera access' is turned on, and the apps you want to use the camera with have permissions enabled.
Use Windows Update:
- Check for any optional updates that might include driver updates by navigating to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and selecting 'View all optional updates.'
Roll Back Windows Update:
- If the problem persists, consider rolling back the Windows update to its previous state where the webcam was functioning correctly. You can do this via Settings > System > Recovery > Go back.
Uninstall and Reinstall Webcam Software:
- If your webcam is not working with specific software, try uninstalling and reinstalling that particular software, ensuring it is compatible with Windows 11.
Switch to UVC Driver:
- If the default driver isn't working, switch to the standard USB Video Class driver through Device Manager.
I hope this helps.
