After updating to windows 10, my webcam stopped working "HP TrueVision HD". I think I may need a new driver. My PC doesn't show that I have a webcam in devise manager.

Hi @MGS7,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the issue with your HP TrueVision HD webcam may indeed be related to drivers or hardware recognition, especially after updating to Windows 10.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Steps to Troubleshoot and Fix Webcam Issues:
Check Device Manager for Hidden Devices:
- Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting Device Manager.
- Click on View and select Show hidden devices.
- Look for your webcam under Imaging devices. If you see it, right-click and select Update driver.
Install or Update Webcam Driver:
- Visit the HP Support website and enter your PC model to find the latest drivers.
- Download and install the latest driver for the HP TrueVision HD webcam.
- You can also try using the Windows Update service to find and install the latest driver.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates.
Re-enable the Webcam in BIOS:
- Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, Esc, or Del during startup).
- Look for a setting related to the webcam. Make sure it is enabled.
- Save changes and exit BIOS.
Check Privacy Settings:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Ensure that the camera access is turned on for the device and apps.
Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter:
- Open the Control Panel and go to Troubleshooting.
- Select View all on the left pane and click on Hardware and Devices.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
Reinstall the Camera:
- In Device Manager, if you see the webcam listed, right-click on it and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your computer. Windows should automatically detect and reinstall the webcam.

Check for Windows Updates:
- Sometimes Windows updates can fix driver issues. Ensure your Windows 10 is fully up to date.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates.
Test Webcam with Different Applications:
- Try using the webcam with different applications such as Zoom, Skype, or the Windows Camera app to see if the issue persists across all applications.
If the Webcam Still Doesn't Work:
- External Webcam: Consider using an external USB webcam as a temporary solution.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially fix the issue with your HP TrueVision HD webcam.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
