We have a large amount of HP USB-C Dock G5 in our organisation. Some on them exhibited a strange behaviour in our work environment.
The setup is a dual monitor. Can be both displayport or one displayport and one HDMI. At one point, the screens stay in sleep mode even if the laptop is able to see them through the dock. If you shut down a screen then turn it back on, both screen start to display until you unplg then replug or restart the system. We also have Dell WS19S docks and they do not have the same behaviour (swap the HP dock for a Dell dock and the screens work no problem). After a lot of fiddling, we ended installing the specific drivers for the specific screens in use and it appeared to work at that point, but it took a bit of time after for it to work. Is there anything specific that would cause the Windows generic display driver to not work well through the HP dock but fine on the Dell dock? We have various HP and Dell laptops that both had the same behavious with the HP dock, so laptop brand is not in question.
