Pavilion
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have 2 display monitors.  Only one can be used because there is only one HDMI port on the laptop.   The C port does not work with a USB-C HDMI adaptor.    I ordered a HP USB-C Docking station (out of stock at HP)  from Amazon over a month ago and still had not arrived.  I don't think the seller actually has it and I will most likely have to get a refund for non receipt.

The only other option I can see at this point is to buy an HDMI splitter.  However, have not been able to find that either.   I regret having bought the Pavilion since it appears the C port does not work.   Any suggestions?

No point to use HDMI splitter for 2 monitors, you can't extend screens. What is your machine and what is the dock you are ordering. Do you know they are COMPATIBLE ?

I don't know your machine therefore I can't comment on you last question.

Hi I bought a HP Pavilion - 15-cs3096nr touch

The docking station I'm trying to order is supposed to be compatible -   USB- C Dock,  but the C port on the laptop does not seem to be working as I have tried different connectors.

The specs of your machine is

           https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06474274

It only has 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port which is not fully compatible with many USB-C docks and you won't be able to connect to an external monitor thru a dock.
