Hp to hp products don’t work?

I have a hp laptop model 15s-eq1516sa laptop and HP USB-C Essential Dock G5  and I can’t get it to charge or run on the monitor.   

anyone point me in the right direction please.

The specs of your machine is

It ONLY has 1 hopeless SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

• Charge your machine,
• Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)

In short: It is NOT compatible with the HP USB-C dock and other USB-C docks.

Thank you for your help and information. Looks like I purchased the wrong laptop in the first instance then the wrong dock in the second. Just presumed HP products would be compatible with other HP products. Is there a known doc that will work with this that you could recommend.
