Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000 (76T53AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello guys, recently my HP Victus 16 (2 years warranty) just having both black screen and flickering screen issue while gaming and doing assignments. Went to HP repair center to do some BIOS software updates. It works at first few hours after that i try play games and test multiple benchmarks in my laptop, the black flickering screen is back, also sometimes i get black screen without any light from the power button, but the battery charger still works. I suspect it's hardware problem, is it graphics card, CPU or motherboard.
Now I can't even open my laptop even though the battery charger still works. Please help. 🙂

@Lye2, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a recurring black screen and flickering issue on your HP Victus 16 (2023) laptop, which has now escalated to the point where the laptop won’t power on at all, despite the charger showing signs of life.

Possible Causes

  1. Overheating or thermal stress during gaming could be triggering GPU/CPU instability.
  2. Discrete GPU failure (common in gaming laptops under heavy load).
  3. Motherboard or power delivery issue, especially if the power button light is off.
  4. Faulty display cable or panel, though less likely if the system won’t power on at all.
  5. Battery or charging circuit issue, though charger working suggests otherwise.

Recommended Steps

Hard Reset

Try a hard reset:

  • Disconnect charger.
  • Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Reconnect charger and try powering on.

Check for Signs of Life

  • Any fan noise, keyboard backlight, or caps lock LED blinking?
  • If caps lock blinks, count the blinks — it’s an error code.

External Monitor Test

If the laptop powers on but screen stays black:

  • Connect to an external monitor via HDMI.
  • Press Windows + P and cycle through display modes.

Service Center Follow-up

Since the issue returned after BIOS update and stress testing, and now the laptop won’t power on:

We suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - Malaysia | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
