My HP ZBook 17 DreamColor Screen has severe banding issues. The problem occurred a few weeks ago, and I don't know what could have caused it.  I've tried everything I can think of to fix it.

  • I've uninstalled the HP Mobile Display Assistant and reinstalled it, as it made no difference.
  • In the Color Management settings, I've tried both "Use my settings" and not
  • In the Color Management settings, I've set different ICC profiles as standard
  • In the Advanced settings in Color Management I've set "Use Winidows Calibration" and not
  • I've tried different settings (Full vs 16-235) etc. in the Nvidia Control Panel

The banding is very visual on gradients, especially dark ones. I can see it even on my log-in screen image, before I log in to Windows. It's there in all applications, incuding YouTube etc.

Here's a link to a photo of my screen. This is in After Effects, where I've put a gradient on a background.

I've found one thisn that helps: Do a clean install of new Nvidia Drivers. This makes the screen behave normally, but upon restart, the banding issues come back again.

I can't for the life of me understand where/why the bad Color Settings are introduced.

If anyone has a solution to this it would make me very happy!
