HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-es0000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

HP ENVY x360 convertible 15-es0xxx laptop issues started on Feb. 6th.

  1. Windows moving and popping up seemingly with no user input.
  2. Mouse pointer turning on and off and then not responding.

Perhaps an AI upgrade had happened in the background? Or, I may just be paranoid about that.

HP Hardware Diagnostic downloaded and run.

  1. Individual component Bio system firmware, CPU stress test, video, keyboard and mouse tests passed.
  2. When I run either fast tests or extensive tests, the diagnostics stop on the third test, battery, and then the display shows that the battery test and the following two tests--ROM and Disk Read-- are cancelled.

Please help me figure out how to fix the flickering, windows popping up, and mouse issues.

Thanks.

Hi @Stardust_Rick,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

What you’re experiencing- random windows moving, mouse pointer flickering and stopping, and input issues; can come from software corruption, outdated firmware/drivers, or touchscreen/touchpad interference.

Here’s how to approach this step by step:

1. Update Windows & Drivers
• Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all pending updates.
• Open Device Manager and update the display, chipset, and USB/input device drivers.
• Alternatively, use HP Support Assistant to check for the latest drivers and system updates.

2. Check for a BIOS Update
• Open HP Support Assistant on your laptop.
• Go to the Updates section and install any available BIOS updates.
A BIOS update can resolve system stability and input detection issues.

3. Run the Latest HP UEFI Diagnostics
You mentioned the built-in diagnostics stopped during the battery test. Make sure you’re using the newest version of the UEFI diagnostics. Download the latest HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tool here:
 https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2854458-2733239-16

Try running the test again.

4. Check Touchscreen & Touchpad
Since this is a convertible model, phantom touch input can cause the pointer to behave erratically:
• Clean the screen edges and surface carefully.
• Try disabling the touchscreen temporarily via Device Manager and see if the mouse behavior improves.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a blissful day 😇.
