Hi, I just bought a refurbished HP Spectre x360 - 13-4116dx and was wondering how I can tell if it has the OLED screen?  I called HP customer support and gave them my serial and model number and they were able to verify that it has the QHD resolution and touchscreen obviously in the specs but there's no mention of the OLED backlight screen.  Normally I would just let this go but I bought this off a vendor from ebay and although it seems legit this is troubling that there's no way to prove I have the OLED screen on this model so in the future for example if I sell this how would I prove it when the specs make no mention of the OLED screen?  Unless the model number 13-4116dx refers specifically to the oled screen it's hard for me to tell.  The contrast looks great but unless I had it next to a similar oled laptop like the lenovo or alienware 13 (the only 2 other models that have an oled screen) there's no way for me to verify.  If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it, thanks!

Hi,

Well, you have to rely on its specs:

Updated:

Over my breakfast with a friend, he toold me one way to check: In a room, look at an image with black, turn off the light, the true black is OLED.

Regards.

According to HP site the 13-4116dx is OLED.

The problem is that the 13-4116dx is also listed as an led backlight as well.  So obviously this model number can be either the led or oled backlight.

I would think that Best Buy mislabeled the product unless you see another 13-4116dx as OLED on Best Buy. I would tend to believe HP over Best Buy. Also I googled the model number and several sites listed it as OLED.

It's a LCD screen that is backlit with a oled panel.  Turn it on in a dark room and you'll see the panel illuminated by the whole oled panel behind the l d screen. If it were truly a oled you wouldn't see that. I will be returning mine tomorrow. I even asked at the store since before I walked out because I noticed the box simply said it had an LCD screen. No mention of the oled backlight.

They're using oled instead of led or cfl tubes. Gives a more uniform lighting, but still not a stand alone oled full color panel.

I just purchased an Oled backlit HP Spectre X360 also, hoping that its a true OLED panel.

Is this half measure true of all their models from last year? They toted an OLED panel, but not a true one?
