Hp Stream 11 Black Screen

Hp Stream 11
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I have had my Hp Stream 11 for about 1 1/2 months now. Today I went to look something up, and I had to log in again. I then log in, and find out that after logging in, the screen just goes black. I can still see my arrow and stuff, but the power button LED light is blinking on and off. I also had been having problems with random stuff being downloaded off the internet, stuff that I didnt even authorize to be downloaded prior to me finding out about the black screen. PLEASE HELP ME

I cannot do the recovery if my screen is black. I also have a  laptop, not a desktop. The link seems to only be used for desktops.

Hi,

Try the following and let me know.

Boot the computer normally and log-in.

At the black screen, hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press delete.

Select Task Manager.

In the bottom left select More Details ( if it's not already selected ).

Click in the Name column header to arrange the processes in alphabetical order.

Look for an entry called Run Once Wrapper (RunOnce.exe) - if you see it listed, right click on it and select End Task.

Does the Desktop now show?

If it does, download Autoruns on the following link and Save it to your Downloads folder.

http://download.sysinternals.com/files/Autoruns.zip

When you have this, open your Downloads folder, right click on the zipped Autoruns folder, select 'Extract All...' and in the following window, click the Extract button.

A new window will open showing the extracted contents.  The application you need to launch is the 2nd in the list ( autoruns size 636Kb ) but do this by right clicking on it and selecting 'Run as Administrator' - click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

Scroll down the list until you find the RunOnce entry ( there may well be 2 entries ) and remove the tick(s) from the box next to it.

Restart the notebook and see if it now boots to the Desktop.

Regards,

DP-K
