I HAVE AN ENVY 13 with 2 usb ports and sd would like to add a monitor what do i need

The best option is to use USB-C monitor and connect to USB-C port of your machine. You can daisy chain monitors later (up to max limit depending on resolution and refresh rates).

You can also use USB-C to DP adapter to connect DP monitor and get very similar result.
