@envy881, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Screen Goes Black When Touching Mouse or Trackpad on HP Envy!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Envy screen goes black whenever you touch the mouse or trackpad, there may be a few potential causes and solutions to rectify this issue:

Potential Causes:

Power and Sleep Settings:

  • The computer might be set to a specific power and sleep setting that causes the screen to go blank.

Driver Issues:

  • There might be issues with drivers or software settings for the mouse or trackpad.

Hardware Issues:

  • Problems with the actual mouse, trackpad, or related hardware.

Suggested Solutions:

Check Power and Sleep Settings:

  • Log in to your computer with an administrative account.
  • Access the Power & Sleep settings through the Control Panel or search in Windows.
  • Ensure that sleep mode and screen dimming options are properly configured. Set the screen sleep to never.
    Adjust Power & Sleep settings

Update Mouse and Trackpad Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by searching for it in the Windows search bar.
  • Find and expand the sections for Mice and other pointing devices and Human Interface Devices.
  • Right-click on each device and select Update Driver.
  • Follow the prompts to update drivers and restart the computer.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
