Envy x360 15-bq051na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all!

I've encountered troubles when not using the provided active stylus with my HP Envy 15-bq051na. The issue is the following:

After some time, completely passively and erratic, mouse pointer jumps into top-right corner of the screen, briefly taking on the stylus icon. As if I pointed there with my stylus, despite me not having the stylus nearby. I attempted removing the battery from the stylus, issue persists. Touchscreen itself works fine. The issue is solved by disabling the stylus functionality in device manager. However, I would still like to use the stylus.

I attempted the following:

- Updating all firmware/software (incl. bios, which maybe changed the erratic behavior a bit - started jumping a different corner) provided on the HP support site.

- Removing battery from stylus

- Removing the battery from the laptop to de-polarize the capacitors

- Searching Google and several forums to find a solution

I did not find any fix for my issue, save having it completely disabled. For now, I'm assuming a faulty digitizer. If so, how to fix, or whether there is something I haven't thought of yet? Where could the problem lie?

Perhaps it is useful to know, that I have a used device, which is no longer in warranty.

All the best,

Sat

Hi! @Satyra,

Have you tried checking with a new set of batteries?

If the pen does not write consistently while your fist or palm is touching the screen, make sure the pen tip is 5mm or farther from the point where your hand is contacting the screen.

Download and install HP pen control software on the PC to the latest version and check if it helps.

Update the pen control software using this link. Click Here

Enable and reinstall the touch screen driver in Device Manager

Your touch screen might not respond because it is not enabled or needs to be reinstalled. Use Device Manager to enable and reinstall the touch screen driver.
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Expand the Human Interface Devices list.
Right-click the touch screen device, and then click Enable, if possible. If the Enable option does not display, continue to the next step.
Tap the screen to see if it responds. If it does not, continue with these steps.
Right-click the touch screen device, and then click Uninstall.
Restart the computer to reinstall the touch screen driver.
Tap the screen to see if it responds. If it does not, continue to the next step.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a pleasant day ahead! 🙂
