My Webcam and microphone are not working with Windows 10 updates, I have been searching the web and forums for solutions but none has worked.. I don't have a camera kill switch like many others fount it to be the solution, the computer does not recognize that it has a camera installed, I tried all solutions on device manager like adding imagining device but it doesn't work, I tried to update Bios.. nothing has worked so far. One mentioned that he installed an old camera driver then it worked but I don't know where to find an old driver spXXXX to make it work. Thanks for your help.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to back up your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows) You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for trying to help.. I already tried the computer full reset and still didn't work... I tried Bios hardware diagnosis but there is no webcam test in the options.. Looks like the computer doesn't see that it has a webcam at all. Is there an old driver that I can try?

Yes!!  I purchased this laptop new i March and my camera has never worked properly.  I have updated, uninstalled Windows 10, Camera App and talked though it with HP support!!  They need to recall this thing.  I paid too much money for a crappy laptop.  My 2011 Macbook's camera was better than this!!

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?
