Omen 15-5012tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

TL,DR: Can I use the Mini DP++ output and the HDMI output simultaneously in "extend" mode?

QL,RA: I have an Omen 15-5012tx and want to connect two external monitors as "extended". These are basic office displays, and definitely nothing fancy. My HP has both a Mini DP++ port and a HDMI port for video output.

I was going to use a simple (cheap!) Mini DP to HDMI cable for one monitor, and a HDMI cable for the other. From the user manual, I couldn't confirm that this arrangement is possible. I then looked at Mini DP++ to dual HDMI splitters as a potential alternative, but they're really quite expensive. I appreciate they can offer much higher screen rates, but this is not an issue in my application.

I don't want to wait a week for a basic MDP to HDMI cable to arrive and find I can't use it in conjunction with the HDMI output. I also don't want to spend $100's on a DP++ splitter if it's not necessary. Can anyone assist with whether a single monitor on DP will work extended with another monitor on HDMI?

Thanks heaps, Steve

Anybody?

Does the HDMI port work "extended" with the Displayport port?

Cheers, Steve
