@Kingdev1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP laptop’s touchpad is not working, and I’ll be happy to help you resolve this issue.

Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and hopefully fix the problem:

Enable the Touchpad

Sometimes the touchpad may be accidentally disabled.

  1. Press Fn + F6, Fn + F9, or Fn + F5 (varies by model) to toggle the touchpad on/off.
  2. Alternatively, go to:
    • Settings > Devices > Touchpad
    • Ensure the Touchpad toggle is turned ON

Check Touchpad Settings in BIOS

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Use arrow keys to navigate to Advanced > Built-in Device Options
  3. Make sure the Touchpad is enabled
  4. Press F10 to save and exit

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers

  1. Right-click Start > Device Manager
  2. Expand Mice and other pointing devices
  3. Right-click your touchpad device (e.g., Synaptics, ELAN) > Update driver
  4. If that doesn’t help, choose Uninstall device, then restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

HP provides a built-in tool to check for hardware issues:

  1. Turn off the laptop
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F2
  3. Select Component Tests > Mouse/Touchpad Test

Perform a System Restore (if recently stopped working)

If the touchpad stopped working after a recent update or change:

  1. Search for System Restore in Windows
  2. Follow the prompts to restore to a point when the touchpad was working

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
