Hi,

I've recently purchased this laptop and love it, but have noticed some issues with the UHD graphics card on certain programs. Every so often black blocks appear on certain applications which with a screen refresh disappear, noting that this does not extend to the main desktop screen behind, but confined to the app themselves i.e. outlook 2016. I've noticed that intel have released an update for the UHD graphics card (and bluetooth device); but my question is do i wait for an official HP update via the support assistant or just proceed to update through intel website?

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the display in certain applications.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105979.exe

Intel: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105899.exe

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

P.S: Welcome to the HP Support Community 😊

OK, the issue seemed to have been resolved via a windows reset with my new secondary monitor plugged in. Seems to have resolved the issue with graphics.

However, the other part of my question hasn't been answered- is the HP support assistant actually up to date with intel drivers etc.? You have suggested i download latest bios drivers using the link provided, but shouldn't the assistant undertake background checks to verify whether my notebook does indeed require this based on current version? i.e. the intel website suggests that there has been a new graphics driver available for the notebook, yet this has not been identified by HP support assistant.

I am glad to hear that the issue is resolved.

The HP support assistant checks for updated drivers and software from the HP website and gives you the updates accordingly. It doesn't check Intel or other manufacturer websites for updates.

I hope that answers your question.

Cheers!
