I purchased a, hp laptop model 9c9a5ua aba, a few months ago. The laptop will now get really hot while running, however, the screen does not turn on, at all. The CAPS button is also flashing.

I have disconnected the battery, connected, held the power button for various times. Nothing seems to be working. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! I am afraid I purchased a bad laptop.

@Krystall-2025, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your HP Laptop 15-fd0182wm. Based on your description, laptop running hot, screen not turning on, and the CAPS lock blinking, this typically points to a hardware-related issue, possibly with the motherboard, memory, or display.

Let’s walk through some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

Understand the CAPS Lock Blink Code

The blinking CAPS lock light is a diagnostic indicator. Count the number of blinks between pauses. Each pattern corresponds to a specific hardware issue.

Perform a Hard Reset

This helps clear any residual electrical charge that might be causing the issue.

  1. Power off the laptop completely.
  2. Disconnect the power adapter and all peripherals.
  3. If the battery is removable, take it out.
  4. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
  6. Try turning the laptop on again.

Test with an External Monitor

To check if the issue is with the internal display:

  1. Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI.
  2. Power on the laptop.
  3. If the external display works, the issue may be with the laptop screen or display cable.

Reseat the RAM (if you're comfortable)

Sometimes, loose memory modules can cause boot issues.

  1. Power off and unplug the laptop.
  2. Open the back panel (if accessible).
  3. Carefully remove and reinsert the RAM modules.
  4. Close the panel and try powering on the laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
