I recently purchased this HP Laptop from Staples. I find the screen to be very dim, even in the highest setting. I have looked at the power saving mode and other ways to make it brighter and nothing seems to help. Please advise. Thank you.

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see that the laptop screen is very dim even when brightness is set to 100%
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Have you tried with Ac adapter plugged in?
- When was the last time it worked fine?
- Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
Go into Windows Control Panel>>Power Options>>Power Management, Select adjust plan brightness, Use the slider and increase until the end. Click save changes.
Or use Fn key + F10 Key to increase the brightness.
And, also refer to this video link: Click here Troubleshooting a Dim Display
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!

I have the same problem battery life or plugged in. Its been very annoying and I wished I had googled before or contacted support. I seriously thought it was my eyes. I've been a mac user forever and just thought this is how it is with a PC. I love love to be able to see normal. I'm always straining. UGH.
