Hi @Christian138,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you might be dealing with a display issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the problem.

  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve display issues. If you haven’t already, try restarting your laptop to see if the line disappears.
  • Check for Loose Connections: If you’re comfortable doing so, check the connection between the screen and the laptop. Ensure that no cables are loose or disconnected.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can cause display problems. Go to Device Manager > Display adapters, right-click your graphics card, and select "Update driver."
  • Adjust Screen Resolution: Right-click on the desktop, select "Display settings," and try changing the screen resolution to see if that resolves the issue.
  • Run a Diagnostic Test: Many HP laptops come with built-in diagnostic tools. You can run a hardware diagnostic test to check for any issues with the screen or graphics card. To access this, restart your laptop and press Esc or F2 during startup to enter the HP diagnostics menu.
  • Boot in Safe Mode: Restart your laptop and enter Safe Mode (usually by pressing Shift while clicking "Restart" in the Start menu). If the line doesn’t appear in Safe Mode, it might be a driver issue.
  • Check for Physical Damage: Inspect your screen for any visible cracks or damage. If there’s physical damage.
  • External Monitor Test: Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV to see if the line appears there as well. If the external display is clear, the issue might be with your laptop’s screen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
