I cannot see the pointer of my wireless mouse. I can only use the computer through the touch screen as I seem to have lost the nconnection between the mouse and the computer (HP Envy)

Hi @RRGuirg,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

sounds like your wireless mouse has dropped its connection with your HP Envy. Let’s go through some quick steps to get your pointer back:

 Step 1: Basic Check

  • Try moving the mouse around — do you see the light (usually red/blue) underneath it?
    • If no light, the mouse may need new batteries or a recharge.
    • If yes, it may still be trying to connect but isn’t paired properly.

Step 2: Check the Wireless Dongle (If It Has One)

  • Many wireless mice use a USB receiver (dongle). If yours does:
    • Unplug and replug it into a different USB port.
    • Wait a few seconds to see if Windows detects it.

If your mouse is Bluetooth (no dongle), skip to Step 3.

Step 3: Reconnect a Bluetooth Mouse

If it’s a Bluetooth mouse:

  1. On the touchscreen, go to:
    • Settings > Bluetooth & Devices
  2. Look for the mouse in the list of connected devices.
    • If you see it but it says "Paired" or "Not connected", tap it and select Remove.
  3. Then tap “Add device” > Bluetooth, and put the mouse into pairing mode (usually a button on the bottom).
  4. Wait for it to appear and reconnect.

Step 4: Check Pointer Settings

Just in case the pointer is working but invisible:

  1. Open Control PanelMouse
  2. Go to Pointer Options
  3. Make sure "Display pointer trails" is off and "Hide pointer while typing" is unchecked
  4. Click Apply and OK

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
