Hi @RRGuirg,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
sounds like your wireless mouse has dropped its connection with your HP Envy. Let’s go through some quick steps to get your pointer back:
Step 1: Basic Check
- Try moving the mouse around — do you see the light (usually red/blue) underneath it?
- If no light, the mouse may need new batteries or a recharge.
- If yes, it may still be trying to connect but isn’t paired properly.
Step 2: Check the Wireless Dongle (If It Has One)
- Many wireless mice use a USB receiver (dongle). If yours does:
- Unplug and replug it into a different USB port.
- Wait a few seconds to see if Windows detects it.
If your mouse is Bluetooth (no dongle), skip to Step 3.
Step 3: Reconnect a Bluetooth Mouse
If it’s a Bluetooth mouse:
- On the touchscreen, go to:
- Settings > Bluetooth & Devices
- Look for the mouse in the list of connected devices.
- If you see it but it says "Paired" or "Not connected", tap it and select Remove.
- Then tap “Add device” > Bluetooth, and put the mouse into pairing mode (usually a button on the bottom).
- Wait for it to appear and reconnect.
Step 4: Check Pointer Settings
Just in case the pointer is working but invisible:
- Open Control Panel → Mouse
- Go to Pointer Options
- Make sure "Display pointer trails" is off and "Hide pointer while typing" is unchecked
- Click Apply and OK
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
