Hi @warisha,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop's webcam isn't working and you're having trouble installing drivers, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.
Check Device Manager:
- Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
- Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark or that are listed under "Imaging Devices."
- If you see any, right-click on them and select "Update driver" to see if Windows can find and install the necessary drivers automatically.
Reinstall Drivers:
- If Windows couldn't find the drivers automatically, visit the HP support website.
- Enter your laptop's model number and look for the webcam drivers in the "Drivers and Downloads" section.
- Download the appropriate drivers for your laptop's webcam and install them manually.
Check Privacy Settings:
- Sometimes, webcam access can be disabled in the privacy settings.
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and make sure the "Allow apps to access your camera" toggle is turned on.
- Also, ensure that individual apps have permission to access the camera if necessary.
Update Windows:
- Make sure your Windows operating system is up-to-date. Sometimes, updates include fixes for hardware compatibility issues.
Scan for Malware:
- Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to check for any malware that might be interfering with the webcam functionality.
Check Physical Connections:
- Ensure that the webcam is properly connected to the laptop. If it's an external webcam, try disconnecting and reconnecting it.
Hardware Issue:
- If none of the above steps work, it's possible that there's a hardware issue with the webcam itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
