HP ENVY x360 - 15m-dr1012dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The mouse cursor will randomly shift or jump while I'm using it with one finger. I've isolated the issue to my touchpad since connecting an external mouse does not show this issue. This issue also appears while in the BIOS menus so the issue doesn't seem to be related to windows.

Here's the steps I've taken so far

  • Removed static by powering off and holding the power button for 15 seconds
  • Adjusted the touchpad settings in Windows settings
  • Updated all drivers
  • Cleaned any dirt or grime from the touchpad
  • Uninstalled the Synaptics touchpad driver and let Windows reinstall it
  • Updated the BIOS

This issue is making it very difficult to use the touchpad. Please help.

Hi @rvzxjr

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Appreciate you trying the steps. As you are experiencing this issue on the BIOS screen as well,  this is a hardware related issue and I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
