HOW LONG did you leave the laptop powered down after you spilled water on it? If it was not at least two days, then you almost certainly turned it on TOO SOON and that likely shorted out something inside it, and that could result in virtually anything wrong now -- which really can not be fixed. Had you come here right away, we would have told to to turn if off, and if possible, remove the battery, and leave it that way for at least two days -- with it propped up on a towel so the water could drain out completely.
Your only option now, since this is "accidenta; damage" and thus not covered by the HP warranty, is to take it to a local laptop repair place to see if they =can isolate and fix the damage.
