OMEN by HP - 17-an030ca

I have 2 monitors attached to an Ancker docking station via the USB-C.  The specs indicate that this can be done:  1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge); 3 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge); 1 Mini DisplayPort™; 1 HDMI; 1 RJ-45; 1 headphone/microphone combo; 1 microphone-in

When connected all 3 screens are blank (1 laptop and 2 external vial the Anker).

I did later find:

"OMEN by HP Notebook - Mini-DisplayPort Does Not Support MST (Multi-Stream Transport)

The mini-DisplayPort on OMEN byHP Laptop does not support daisy-chained multi-monitor arrangements using DisplayPort 1.2 MST (Multi-Stream Transport). When connecting to a monitor featuring DP1.2 MST support, one or more of the following behaviors maybe observed:

  • OMEN by HP Laptop may freeze, requiring a forced shutdown and restart of Windows
  • Internal and external displays may flash repeatedly
  • Downstream displays connected to DP1.2 MST monitor do not work

To avoid this behavior, customers should disable the MST (Multi-Stream Transport) setting on themonitor or change the DisplayPort mode to DisplayPort 1.1 via the monitor’son-screen controls.

OMEN by HP Laptopmini-DisplayPort connection supports the full DisplayPort 1.2 bandwidth fordisplays up to 4k (3840 x 2160) resolution @ 75 Hz."

I don't understand what this means.  I don't seem to understand how to make these changes.  Will these changes allow for 2 external monitors (not duplicated, but extended) to be attached via the dock to my laptop?

This is an older laptop, is there a patch available to fix this?

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know Anker product but sounds they are NOT compatible. The specs of your machine is

              https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05561174

You can connect to 2 external monitors using GP, HDMI and USB-C port (not using a middle man).

Thank you for your reply, but how does one connect via USB-C without a docking station?  I am unsure of what GP is.
