Hi @xAx_XL,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the touchpad on your HP 14 HP 360x convertible laptop has stopped working, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve many hardware issues, including problems with the touchpad.
- Check touchpad settings: Ensure that the touchpad is enabled in your laptop's settings. Sometimes, it might accidentally get disabled.
- Update drivers: Outdated or corrupted touchpad drivers can cause issues. You can update the touchpad drivers through the Device Manager in Windows or using HP's support website.
- Clean the touchpad: Dirt, dust, or moisture on the touchpad surface can interfere with its functionality. Gently clean the touchpad with a soft, dry cloth.
- Check for physical damage: Inspect the touchpad surface for any physical damage or signs of wear.
- System restore: If the issue started recently and you made changes to your system or installed new software, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state when the touchpad was working correctly.
- Hardware diagnostics: HP laptops often come with built-in hardware diagnostic tools. You can run these diagnostics to check if there are any hardware issues affecting the touchpad.
- External mouse: As a temporary solution, you can connect an external mouse to your laptop to navigate and troubleshoot further.
- BIOS update: In some cases, updating the laptop's BIOS firmware can resolve hardware-related issues. However, BIOS updates should be done carefully and following HP's instructions to avoid causing further problems.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware failure with the touchpad itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
