PC 17t-by400 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My brand new PC 17t-by400 CTO has an internal DVD drive that will only whirr and click but not play either an audio or video disc.  I have gone through all the steps for repairs ie - uninstall/reinstall the device, update drivers, there were no registry errors to fix, the extensive hardware test was normal and I even installed the HEVC Codec even though the problem is still there when using VLC.  I even uninstalled and updated it.  Is there anything else that I can do?  Thank you.

You have to have a software to be able to play. Machine should have a software called CyberLink  Media Player. You have to open and play it for the first time and assign it to play CD's / DVD's. It with come and play next times.

You can also can use many software players to open and play then assign it ad default player. For example

I personally avoid Windows Media Player as it has so few codecs as to be all but useless -- to me.

Instead, I use VLC player -- which will play virtually anything out there:  https://www.videolan.org/vlc/

But ... you are free to use whatever you want.
