My gaming laptop screen will go black with pixels and not work.

HP pavilion gaming laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I’ll be playing a game on my laptop. When I hear what sounds like a tv getting static for like 2 seconds then my screen will go back with pixels squares all over it. So then I have to hard restart the whole thing....

@Megsimonne Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the laptop screen will go black.

If you haven't, please try an alternate monitor to understand if this is either a hardware or a software failure.

Let us do a power drain on the computer, please remove all the peripherals connected to the computer, then shut down the computer if it is on and then press and hold the power button and F6 key for around 10 seconds.

If the issue still persists, perform the below steps:

Press the Windows key and then followed by the key "B" this time and then the power button for around 3-4 seconds, then release the power button and continue to hold windows+B for 3-4 seconds more.

Please perform the system test and let us know.

let me know how that pans out,

And the answer to the above question will help me, help you!

Keep me posted, and if any of the above questionnaires helped resolve the issue,
