Hi @Nikki195,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the AC adapter.
- Remove any peripheral devices (like USB drives).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to reset the system.
- Reconnect the AC adapter (do not connect peripherals yet) and turn on the laptop.
Check the Display:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor using an HDMI or VGA cable, depending on available ports, to determine if the issue is with the display or the system itself.
- Press the F4 key several times to toggle through various display modes to check if the external monitor displays your laptop screen.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it on and continually press the F8 key until you see the “Advanced Boot Options” screen.
- Choose “Safe Mode” and press Enter.
- In Safe Mode, you can check and update your display drivers.
BIOS Recovery:
- Press the power button and immediately start tapping the F10 key to access the BIOS.
- If the BIOS screen appears, your hardware may be fine, and the issue may be software-related. If not, it could indicate a hardware issue.
Reset BIOS Defaults:
- Access the BIOS by pressing F10 on startup.
- Reset to factory settings, save changes, and exit.
I hope this helps.
