Hi @hyprrr,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
You're at the right place, and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Power Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on Choose what closing the lid does.
- Ensure that the option is set to 'Sleep' under both 'On battery' and 'Plugged in'.
Update Drivers:
- Use the HP Support Assistant to check for any driver updates, especially for the display adapter and chipset drivers.
- Visit the HP Drivers Page and enter your laptop model to download and install the latest drivers manually if needed.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and make sure your system is up to date.
Review Sleep Settings in Power Plan:
- Go back to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Next to your selected power plan, click on Change plan settings.
- Click on Change advanced power settings and ensure 'Sleep after' and 'Allow hybrid sleep' settings are correctly configured.
Disable Wake Timers:
- Within the advanced power settings, go to Sleep > Allow wake timers and disable them to prevent the system from waking unexpectedly.
Check BIOS Settings:
- Enter BIOS Setup (usually by pressing F10, Esc, or Delete key during boot).
- Look for any power management options that might affect sleep and lid settings and adjust them as necessary.
Run Power Troubleshooter:
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Run the 'Power' troubleshooter to identify and fix any detected issues.
Review Installed Programs:
- Recent software updates or installations might interfere with sleep functions. Check if there are any programs that might prevent sleep, such as some software running background tasks.
Consider Rolling Back Recent Updates:
- If the issue started after a recent Windows update, consider rolling back to a previous state via Settings > System > Recovery > Go back.
I hope this helps.
