HP ENVY - 13-ad014na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The screen on my HP ENVY - 13-ad014na laptop keeps flickering when it reaches half brightness or lower or when it is on battery power. I have tried to fix this by deleting and reinstalling both screen adapters, which works for a few days but then the problem starts again. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi @Ub6424

Thank you very much! It seems to be working at the moment but I will have to wait for a few days to see if it starts flickering again or not. Will keep you updated, and thanks again.

Hi again @Ub6424

So update: it worked for a time, but then it has just started flickering again when I tried to put it on a lower brightness (and also when I unplug my charger). I think it starts flickering when I have my laptop on a high brightness for a while then try to turn it down.

I completely understand if this is a lost cause, and again I thank you so much for all your help.

Hello @TheLichenWolf

Recommendation and solution

In your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- [Always recommended] Thermal paste for CPU GPU and bridges should be renewed
- [Always recommended] The function of the fan(s) must be checked

The internal display cable from motherboard to screen has to be checked or replaced

- The screen has to checked or replaced

- Short circuit test

- General cleaning ...

HP warranty valid -> Contact HP Support for service repair

HP warranty expired:

If you can't do that, you should have it serviced by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.

Good luck
