Hi @Chlaire,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

May I know is there any black patch on the screen? Do you see the pink and green color on the BIOS screen .

Access the BIOS Setup Utility using a series of key presses during the boot process.

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Turn on the computer, and then immediately press the esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
  3. Press f10 to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

If yes, then it will be a hardware issue.

If not,. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Check for Physical Damage: First, ensure there's no physical damage to the screen or the laptop itself that might be causing the display issue.

Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix display issues. This can reset the system and potentially clear up any temporary glitches causing the problem.

Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause display issues. Here's how you can update them:

  • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Display adapters section, right-click on your graphics card, and choose Update driver.
  • Select "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the prompts.

Adjust Display Settings: Check your display settings to ensure nothing is configured incorrectly. Right-click on your desktop, select Display settings, and ensure the resolution is set to the recommended setting.

Check for Windows Updates: Ensuring your operating system is up-to-date can also resolve driver and compatibility issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and click Check for updates.

External Monitor Test: If possible, connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the external display does not show the same issues, the problem might be with your laptop's screen.

Hardware Diagnostic Test: HP provides a hardware diagnostic tool that you can use to check if there's a hardware problem with your laptop. You can access this by turning on your laptop and pressing the F2 key repeatedly until the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI menu appears. Run the tests for your display to check for hardware issues.

Reset or Reinstall Windows: If none of the above solutions work, there might be a deeper issue with your operating system. Consider performing a system reset or a clean installation of Windows. However, remember that these actions can lead to data loss, so back up your files first. Click Here

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
