Hi all,
Happy Saturday, I have a problem with the camera on my HP ENVY Laptop 15-ep1002na. I can not find the camera in my device manager, and the driver can not be found to reinstall. I contacted the Microsoft team because this must have happened during one of the Windows updates; however, I was unsuccessful.
Please advise error 0xA00F4244 (NO CAMERA ATTACHED, CONSIDERING THAT IT IS BUILT IN). I went to the website, I could not find the webcam software/driver listed for my laptop model to download it and install, also I did all the other steps such as looking for the driver in device manager, update/look for driver updates, do a power flush, update windows, drivers, etc., changing the setups/settings in my laptop for the camera, install additional cameras from windows store.... as long the camera it can not be found is not helping.
Please kindly advise, where can I find the HP build-in webcam driver for Windows 11?
Many thanks in advance for all your support.
Best,

Hi @Luxi
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It looks like your HP ENVY Laptop 15-ep1002na (4J935EA) is missing its built-in webcam driver, which is causing the 0xA00F4244 (No Camera Attached) error.
Since you've already tried multiple troubleshooting steps, here are some additional solutions:
1. Check HP’s Official Driver Page
- Visit HP’s driver support page and enter your laptop model.
- If a webcam driver isn’t listed, HP may rely on Windows’ built-in drivers.
2. Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters.
- Scroll down to Camera and run the troubleshooter.
3. Reinstall the Webcam Driver Manually
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Click View > Show Hidden Devices.
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- If the webcam appears, right-click > Uninstall device, then restart your laptop.
4. Install HP’s Generic Webcam Driver
- Some users have reported success using HP’s generic webcam driver from HP’s support forums.
- If your laptop originally had HP TrueVision HD Camera, try installing a similar driver.
5. Check HP’s Webcam Troubleshooting Guide
- HP provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for webcam issues here.
- It includes steps for checking privacy settings, updating drivers, and resolving detection issues.
If none of these steps work, the issue may be related to a Windows update affecting webcam detection. Let me know if you need further assistance!

Hi,
Thank you for all the information, however, I already did it as I mentioned in my previous post, and it did not work. The driver for the camera is not listed on the website for my model. Can you help me find a driver for my camera, please? I searched online and on your website I couldn't find any driver. Many thanks.

I appreciate your patience! Since the camera driver for your HP laptop isn’t listed on HP’s website, here are some alternative ways to find and install it:
1. Use HP Support Assistant
- Open HP Support Assistant on your laptop.
- Go to Updates and check if a camera driver is available.
- If HP Support Assistant doesn’t detect the camera, try searching for drivers directly on HP’s drivers and downloads page.
2. Install a Generic Microsoft Camera Driver
- Open Device Manager (Windows + X → **Device Manager`).
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- If your webcam is listed, right-click it and select Update driver → Browse my computer for drivers → Let me pick from a list.
- Choose USB Video Device and install it.
3. Scan for Hidden Devices
- In Device Manager, click View → Show hidden devices.
- If the camera appears, right-click and select Update driver.
4. Watch a Quick Fix Video
- HP has a helpful video tutorial on reinstalling webcam drivers.
If none of these steps work, let me know what happens at each stage, and we’ll dig deeper! Hopefully, we can get your webcam working again.

Hi,
Thank you for your prompt response and getting back to me, I already done all this previously. Before I posted on the HP community I did and I applied all the posibile solutions that exist. The only thing I need is the HP webcam driver, which I can not find it on HP website, or any other websites. I even spoke with Microsoft team and they said I need the HP webcam driver because it can not be found in my laptop, they accessed remote my laptop for this. I kindly ask advise where can I find it / a link for it to download it / in a cloud for a download / the laptop webcam drivers.
Many thanks in advance for your support,

Luxi
