Old PC - new large monitor

Product Name: DV6-1220
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I just connected a 32" monitor (A Samsung UE32D5005) to my old Pavilion Entertainment PC DV6-1220. I am using this as a desktop setup with external keyboard and mouse - and of course the monitor - letting the old computer just being the platform running this.

The problem with the 32" monitor is that the picture - especially text - is not very clear.

I updated the software of the monitor, I adjusted what can be adjusted on the monitor and I updated the driver for the PC's graphics card through 'device management'.

Are there anything that I can do to improve the 'view', so I will have a good expirence on this setup?

Hi,

Looks like nothing wrong with the resolution because your TV only has 1920 x 1080

It is not a monitor, I don't think you get driver for it. Your laptops gives the right resolution for your TV. Again, nothing wrong with resolution. Now please try to adjust text under Windows, hope this helps:

@MikeDNK

What is your DV6-1220 ? Have you installed the monitor driver to your computer yet ? It is not a P-n-P device. Please check what is its resolution now (click the following link):

Re: Old PC - new large monitor

Hi

My resolution is 1920x1080 - the monitor is a Full HD TV, which I connected with HDMI.

The DV6-1220 is an old (2009 or 2010) HP Pavilion Entertainment PC, which - when "taken out of service" as laptop has been used as a desktop PC. I just now "upgraded" to a larger TV as monitor.

I haven't tried to install any new drivers for the TV on the PC.

Re: Old PC - new large monitor

I decided to go for the 150 % enlargement. 175 % is better, but it gets too big... 150 % is a good compromise.

I scaled all menus, titles, icons etc for size 6, but on this I see no difference.

Thank you very much. It has impoved a lot!

Re: Old PC - new large monitor

Have you tried 1920x1200 resolution? My Samsung 27 inch monitor is only crystal clear at that resolution.

I don't have that possibility in the drop down in the advanced settings Smiley Sad
