Envy 17 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Cannot open and play ordinary DVD in my internal BD ROM drive.

Your machine should come with a player but I don't know what is your Envy 17 laptop therefore I can't find out which one. It should be CyberLink DVD player or similar.

 

You can also download and install the following player

 

   http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

 

It will play nearly all video formats, including BD's

Thanks but I have installed the latest version of VCL.  The answer which comes back is  "Your input can't be opened. VCL is unable to open the MRL  'dvd:///D:/'  Check log for details" .  I have the same trouble with my Cyberlink.
