Problem with Control Zone HP Envy

HP Envy
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi,

I'm having a strange issue with my control zone. One day I am able to click on the pad , but the next day I am not. I don't know why I'm no longer able to click it, and I do not like tapping it to right click for things. Is there a way I can return the clicking feature?

Hi,

Can you post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your notebook - you can usually get this by holding down the fn key and pressing esc, otherwise see Here for a guide on locating this information.

Hi,

Try the following.

First, download the Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66001-66500/sp66109.exe

Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Driver' entry and select Uninstall ( windows will load a generic driver so that the touchpad has basic function ).

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

You may then need to open the Synaptics settings panel to configure additional settings.

Regards,

Hi,

If you uninstall the Synaptics software and reboot, does clicking work with the generic Windows driver installed?
