HP Pavilion - 15t-cs000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a fresh install of Windows 11 Home. I have the latest updates for Windows 11 Home and I have updated bios from the HP website, yes -- the correct bios update was installed. I have had this issue in the past and have contacted both HP and Microsoft and neither was able to fix my issue. When my screen turns off*, I have to force shut down my laptop and start it back up to gain access to my laptop screen.

Important Notes: I am using the laptop only, which is plugged in all the time. I am not using a monitor or keyboard with the laptop, just a wireless mouse. The option to allow keys and mouse to wake up the PC is enabled.

*I have tried turning hibernate and sleep mode off and I still have the same issue.

Hi@FabulousFishy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP Pavilion Laptop gets screen goes black and wont turn back on.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Try doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.

The easiest way to turn on Fast Startup is via the Control Panel's power settings. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Press Win + R to open Run.
  2. Type control and click OK to open the Control Panel.
  3. Go to System and Security and then click on Power Options.
  4. In the left pane, click on Choose what the power buttons do.
  5. Next, click the Change settings that are currently unavailable link.
  6. Under the Shutdown settings section, check the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option to turn on the feature.
  7. Uncheck the Turn on fast startup option to turn it off.
  8. Click Save changes to apply the changes.
