After I dropped the computer the screen remained blank though there is no visible damage. The computer seems to work perfectly connected to an external monitor. Is there a cheaper fix than a complete screen screen re[placement?

Welcome to HP support community.

This looks like a hardware issue.

You will have to replace the display, 13.3-inch diagonal Radiance Full HD Infinity LED-backlit touchscreen display (1920x1080).

Alternatively, You could replace the part on your own, use the HP Partsurfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here).

I hope that helps.
