Product: HP Spectre
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Spectre Laptop and want to add a second monitor to display two different worksheets.  I can only choose "duplicate" or "extend."  do I need an external device to get two separate displays?

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

 

If you are using 2 different Windows, you need to extend the display and drag the Window to the second monitor. 

 

Example. If you are using the HP Forum Community Windows and same time you want to use your Facebook, you can drag the Facebook Window to the external monitor when you extend it. So one monitor will display the HP Forum you can use and the other your Facebook
