Severe Eyestrain on HP Elitebook 15" laptop

HP Recommended
HP EliteBook 850 G7 15.6"
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I got the new HP Elitebook as a workstation replacement a couple of weeks ago, and I started having severe eye strain, fatigue and even nausea ever since... It is a FHD display panel, but I had many, LCD based HPs, Dells, Lenovos, MacBooks, and never had any issues.

This one is simply killing my eyes within 15 minutes... Something has changed in the technology,  I guess, with the introduction of OLED-based IPS screens...

It sounds like the system is not compatible with you.

Possible response from the Community includes sympathy and opinions about home remedies to assuage the symptoms.

Personally, I've spent many decades in front of a computer screen of one kind or another.  I do sympathize - any solutions that work for me are not necessarily going to work for you.  Extreme discomfort is not "Gee, just do this or that" territory.

From a practical view perspective,

If you do not want to (or cannot) keep the computer,

Check with the merchant from whom you purchased the device for their return policy.

Do this now for best options - most merchants limit return windows.

For example, if you purchased the computer from the HP Store...
