Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a HP Spectre x360 - 13-w020ca specs can be found here https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05324062

I have a USB HUB from amazon a vava usb c - anyway when I use the hub to connect my laptop to my 4k vizio tv the tv automatically configures it self to the proper 4k resolution.. great, it works

when i take the same hdmi cable + hub + laptop and connect it to my HP 27s Envy 4k monitor well, I don't get 4k.. I get a mini screen in the middle of the display and some error message about DP Alt Mode this is using HDMI 1, when i use HDMI 2 1080p works just fine.

I have enclosed a picture below, and from what I understand, this should work fine as the USB C supports DP mode 1.2 and the proper resolution.

My HDMI is 4k complaint

and I know the hub works with my tv

all the drivers have been downloaded from the hp support assistant

I am stuck

I can't figure out why it would work with my tv, and not my monitor extremely confusing

@op1001 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the external display is not getting a 4K display.

Monitors are plug and play devices and should work without any issues when connected to a computer.

As the monitor is working, I assume that the issue is with the adapter you're using, therefore I suggest you try a different adapter and see if it helps.

I also recommend you to try the monitor on a different computer with the same adapter and see whether you get 4K resolution on a different device.

let me know how that pans out,

And the answer to the above question will help me, help you!

Keep me posted, and if any of the above questionnaires helped resolve the issue,

Good luck.
