My Stylus pen suddenly stopped charging and not working. Is this an issue with Pen or system drivers? If I need to purchase a new one, which is compatible for HP Pavilion x360 14 convertible PC 14-dy1000 436S6AV ?

Hi @Sarang73,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand how inconvenient this is, especially when your stylus is essential for creative work or note-taking. Let’s break this down:
Why did the pen stop working?
It could be:
- Pen hardware issue (battery or internal circuit failure).
- Charging cable/port issue.
- Driver or firmware problem on your HP Pavilion x360.
Quick Checks Before Buying a New Pen
- Charge with a different cable/adapter (preferably the original HP one).
- Restart your laptop and check for updates:
- Go to HP Support Assistant → Update drivers and firmware.
- In Device Manager, look under:
- Human Interface Devices → Ensure “HID-compliant pen” is present.
- If missing, reinstall drivers via HP Support Assistant.
If Pen Still Doesn’t Work
The pen likely has a hardware fault. HP rechargeable pens can fail after extended use.
Compatible Pen for HP Pavilion x360 14-dy1000 (436S6AV)
Your model supports Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP). Recommended options:
- HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen (Model: 3J122AA)
- HP Rechargeable Active Pen G3 (Model: 6SG43AA)
- HP Tilt Pen (Model: 2MY21AA)
