Finally, I've got a solution for a common problem with the Synaptics touchpad in these series of HP notebooks. It has always been impossible to disable the touchpad via the Window 10 system settings. There is no tab to disable it while an usb mouse is connected. It is extremely annoying to touch the pad by accident while working with the keyboard. No solution has been offered in this HP community. I tried several drivers, nothing worked. Now I downloaded and installed a software from a LENOVO site, and it works! Here the URL:

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds036444-synaptics-touchpad-software-for-windows-10-64-bi...

It also works on my HP laptop. After installation, you will find a symbol "Synaptics TouchPad" in your program menu. Now you can turn it off and on as you like.

Of course, I disclaim liability for the advice above and the function of the software I recommend here.
