After some time from start the screen goes black. At the same time, the laptop continues to work. It only helps to close and open the cover (activate sleep mode).
All power settings in control panel are set to "Never".

A person with a similar problem has advised me a simple solution. You just need to switch the mouse to another USB port. I switched. Since then, the screen has never gone black.

For several days now, everything has been working correctly. And before that, the problem arose several times a day.

Welcome to HP support community.

Update the Bios, chipset and drivers using HP Support Assistant.

Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Let me know how it goes.

Here's what you need to do, to identify the issue and resolve it accordingly:

  • If not done already, check if it works fine on the BIOS screen to identify if it's either a hardware or a software issue:
    • If it works fine on the BIOS (Accessed while tapping F10 during a restart) it's a software issue & I suggest creating a new user account to check if that works better, for starters)
    • However, if it doesn't work within the BIOS either, I'm afraid it's a hardware malfunction.

While you respond to that, I have a few more steps that should help:

Perform a power reset (no data loss) using these steps: Click here, proceed to next step if this works

Attempt to run a test from the HP hardware diagnostic tool, using this link: Click here for details.

If the issue appears on the diagnostics, it could again, determine a hardware failure,

If they don't appear on bios & the hardware tests passed: please update the BIOS & Chip-set drivers from the HP website using this link: Click here

if the issue persists, reinstall windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue,
use this link for details on performing the recovery: Click here

I hope that helps.

Thanks so much for your answers!

On the BIOS everything works fine. But I can’t be sure, because this problem occurs chaotically: not once a day, then several times a day. I will continue to test.

I think this problem is related to screen projection. Cause if I press win + P when the screen is black, then cursor down and enter (all this several times) the screen turns on.

Continue to observe the computer while on BIOS to confirm the issue, if it continues to work fine on bios, reinstall windows.

I hope that helps.

I installed SpaceDesk application on the tablet to project the notebook screen onto the tablet. And in those moments when the laptop screen goes black - everything is visible on the tablet screen and everything works fine. Maybe this will help in the diagnosis?

If issue is limited to usage of the App.

You might have to contact the App support to fix this issue.
