Hello, I just received my new laptop this week I ordered and seemed fine once installed what I needed to use it for. Unfortunately I came across some bad reviews for this particular model after I purchased it but would like to hang on to it if I can resolve the issues with the touchpad? The touchpad kind of does it own thing and DOESN'T Respond the way it should and I have already done the diagnostic checks, updates, settings, etc.. still doing the same? Somehow as your navigating it will unintentionally open other windows and or links (almost as if the sensitivity is too high). I have it set to medium sensitivity and sometimes as I'm moving my finger(s) over the touchpad doesn't move the cursor as it should when operating normally? I hope this is a quick fix to where I don't have to return it... anyone having this issue?

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that your touchpad drivers are up to date. Visit the official HP support website, enter your laptop model, and download the latest touchpad drivers. Install them and restart your laptop.
  • Adjust Touchpad Settings: Go to your laptop's settings and look for the touchpad settings. You mentioned that you have already set the sensitivity to medium, but you might want to experiment with different sensitivity levels to see if it makes a difference.
  • PalmCheck: Some touchpad issues can be caused by accidental palm touches. Check if your touchpad settings include a "PalmCheck" feature. If it's available, adjust the sensitivity or disable it to see if it helps.
  • Check for External Interference: Ensure that there are no external devices connected to your laptop that might interfere with the touchpad. Sometimes, wireless devices or even a faulty USB connection can cause erratic behavior.
  • BIOS/UEFI Update: Check if there are any updates for your laptop's BIOS/UEFI firmware. Sometimes, HP releases updates that address hardware-related issues.
